In the early 1970s, God placed a burden in the hearts of a handful of believers with a vision to start a church on the Southeast side of Indianapolis (Franklin Township). After a few years of meeting in their homes, this small group were able to purchase a plot of land (an open field with a horse barn) on Shelbyville Road.
The old horse barn was renovated into their first church sanctuary (it is now the current fellowship hall). Over the years, God has continued to bless SBT and in 2008 we built a larger sanctuary where we worship and study God's Word together to this day.

Meet the Pastors
God has blessed our church with pastoral leadership that lives out the Word in their lives, not just their teaching. Each pastor has been uniquely gifted in his area of ministry.
We Believe
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
The Bible is the perfect, inspired Word of God and is therefore without error. As such it is our sole authority of faith and practice.
There is one true God Who exists in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for the sins of the world, rose from the dead bodily, is now ascended unto the Father and will return for His church.
God has provided salvation through the death of His Son, Jesus Christ, on the cross, and by accepting His shed blood as the payment for the sins of mankind. Salvation is appropriated by grace, through faith in Christ's atoning death. Once saved, the soul is eternally secure in Christ.
Believers should: follow the Lord in baptism by immersion; participate regularly in the Lord's Supper; live righteously, soberly, and godly in this present world.
The Bible teaches an eternal heaven for those saved through faith in Christ and eternal punishment for the unsaved.
We believe that the Church is God’s family, and has been given the mission to share the message of Jesus with the world.
We believe that Jesus Christ has promised to return at the close of history to bring God’s kingdom to earth.
